BaRock
From Baroque to Rock – two musical worlds that are closer than you might think.
BaRock is an extraordinary concert project for string quartet, combining the music of the Baroque era with the energy and sound of rock.
The program begins with Vivaldi’s famous “The Four Seasons” in a new arrangement by Ivan Knežević. Starting from the sound world of the Baroque, the program gradually moves into the present.
A special highlight is a series of variations on the theme “La Folia”, written by Ivan Knežević. The harmonic foundation remains throughout the variations, while each one contains surprising motifs and references to famous rock classics. Among others, “Thunderstruck,” “Come As You Are,” “Smoke on the Water,” “House of the Rising Sun” and “Seven Nation Army” appear in a completely new musical setting.
As the concert continues, the boundaries between classical music and rock gradually disappear. Famous arrangements of music by Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Eric Clapton and other rock legends demonstrate how naturally these two musical worlds can come together.
BaRock shows that between Baroque and rock there are not worlds apart – but centuries of musical ideas that still speak to each other today.
A concert full of virtuosity, surprises and energy – from Baroque to Rock!
