More than 1,000 Children. Many Voices. One City. One World.

As part of the 750th anniversary of the city of Kaiserslautern, “We Are the World” was created as a special musical community project.

​

The idea was initiated by Michael Krauß, Chairman of the Friends of the Pfalztheater, together with ICstrings. The aim was to bring the message of the concert project “Around the World in 80 Minutes” beyond the concert hall and into the city by bringing together children and young people from Kaiserslautern in a shared musical project.

​

More than 1,000 children from different schools took part in this special project. Every school, every group and every child contributed their own voice. From these many individual contributions, a shared musical work was created – a symbol of diversity, community and togetherness.

A City Sings Together

“We Are the World” brings together children from different schools and backgrounds. What began as many individual recordings became one shared musical experience.

​

The message is simple and universal:

We are different – but we belong together.

Music becomes a common language that crosses borders and connects people.

The Finale of “Around the World in 80 Minutes”

​

The video was specially produced for the project and premiered at the end of the concert “Around the World in 80 Minutes.”

​

After the musical journey around the world, the children of Kaiserslautern appeared on the screen. Their voices and faces became a shared finale, making the idea behind the entire project visible.

​

In this way, “We Are the World” became the culmination of “Around the World in 80 Minutes” and at the same time a special contribution to the 750th anniversary of Kaiserslautern.

A concert became a community project.
